Sidor Residence

This residence for a photographer and graphic designer is attached to an existing brick storefront in central Denver. Begun just before the powerful urban trend to develop live and work lofts in Denver the project was challenged from the start by the building department as unsafe and inappropriate. An existing lean to porch at the back of the building was reinforced, insulated and enclosed to become the Living, Dining and Kitchen space of the new residence. A new wing clad in raw concrete stucco contains the master suite and graphic design studio. The new wing also helps define the new exterior space which serves as the formal entry to the house as well as the garden and outdoor dining space.
